Authentication Failed v1.3

Preface

To ensure your hardware firewall router is not blocking Anonymizer Universal, please follow these steps. We have provided the configuration for a common Linksys router below as an example of the needed settings.

Step 1

Enable VPN Passthrough.

Step 2

Enable L2TP/IPSec connections.

Step 3

Allow incoming and outgoing UDP traffic on ports 500, 4500, 1701, 1702, and 1194

If you are using a Linksys router, you will likely need to add additional configurations to the router settings to allow VPN traffic. To access your router settings, you will need to enter the router IP address directly into the URL (Web address) field of your browser. This IP can vary, but most Linksys routers use 192.168.1.1

Next, you will be prompted for your username and password. For most people, this will be the default username and password. This information can be found in your router’s user manual.

Once logged in, select “Security” in the black bar across the top. Under Security, select “VPN”. Please ensure that everything on this screen is selected for “Enable”. If you make any changes, be sure to click “Save Settings.”

Then, select “Applications & Gaming.” Underneath Applications & Gaming, select “Port Triggering.” Enter the following settings into the fields for port triggering; be sure to check the “Enable” box for all three rows with an entry.

Application Start port End port Start port End port Enable
AU-500 500 500 500 500
AU-4500 4500 4500 4500 4500
AU-1701-02 1701 1702 1701 1702
AU-1194 1194 1194 1194 1194

Once you have entered these settings, be sure to click on “Save Settings.”
