It is vital that your computer is up to date with the latest operating system updates so that Anonymizer Universal runs properly.
Preface
Installing Anonymizer Universal on your Linux device requires familiarity with the following technologies:
- Terminal
- tar
- vi, vim, or preferred text editor

- These configuration files have been tested on: Ubuntu 13.04, Debian 7.1, and Fedora 18
- Use of OpenVPN technology requires a user with administrative privileges, commonly provided via ‘sudo’.
- OpenVPN version 2.2 or higher is required to connect to Anonymizer Universal using these instructions.
- The commands provided below worked for us, but may vary based on your relative location in the file system or your specific linux distribution and version.
You may optionally install a GUI for OpenVPN called ‘gopenvpn’ (http://gopenvpn.sourceforge.net). That installation may require additional skills not listed above.
Step 1
Install OpenVPN version 2.2 or higher.
Step 2
Disable IPv6 routing if enabled
Step 3
Download the latest Anonymizer Universal OpenVPN tar file: anonymizer_universal_openvpn.tar
Step 4
Click “Finish”
Extract the contents: tar -xvf anonymizer_universal_openvpn.tar
Step 5
Run OpenVPN using the Anonymizer Universal configuration profile: sudo openvpn –config anonymizer_universal.ovpn
Step 6
Provide your Anonymizer Universal username and password when prompted .
Step 7
You should see a line in the output window indicating that the connection has been successfully established when you are successfully connected or sequence completed.
Step 8
SIGINT (usually CTRL + C) the process to disable the VPN .
