PreferencesThe following explanations will help you determine personal preferences for your Windows® when using Anonymizer Universal 1.2.

Click the (?) icon located on the top right of the interface to access the help screen. Here you will find a link to contact the Beta team with issues, comments, or suggestions.

(i ) PreferencesTop ?

Click the (i ) icon located on the bottom right of the interface to access the preferences section.

Anonymizer Universal Windows Preference (i) front (i ) PreferencesTop ?

The Preferences section contains customizable settings for “Startup Options”, “Logging Options”, and “Advanced Connection Settings”.

Anonymizer Universal Windows Preference (i) back Startup OptionsTop ?

Connect automatically Check this box to automatically connect to the Anonymizer Universal servers when the software opens. This will automatically “Connect” the software when you open the program. Launch at Windows startup Check this box to have the Anonymizer Universal Beta application launch automatically when you start your computer. This will start the program and prompt you to “Connect” the software. This box is checked by default during the installation process. Please Note” if both boxes, “Launch at Windows startup” and “Connect automatically” are checked, the program will automatically open and connect to the servers when you start your computer. If both boxes, “Launch at Windows startup” and “Connect automatically” are unchecked, you will need to first “Open” and “Connect” the software to connect to the Anonymizer Universal servers.

Logging LevelTop ? Anonymizer Universal Windows Preference Logging Level

The advanced logging features will assist the Anonymizer Support team in the identification and resolution of issues. The slider enables users to select the level of logging. As you move the slider from low to high, the logging level will change to the corresponding status listed below.

Errors: Contains solely errors generated when the application fails.

Warnings: Contains all error codes generated during the connection. This is the default level of logging set at installation.

Basic: Contains the standard information regarding connections.

Verbose: Contains OpenVPN connection information. This level of logging should be sufficient to submit log information to Support.

Debug: Contains detailed OpenVPN connection information. This log level should only be used when requested by Support.

View LogTop ?

Select “View Log” to see the exact information contained in the log. • This log does NOT record any online activity conducted on your computer. • This log does NOT record your ISP-issued IP address. • This log does NOT record the external IP address issued by Anonymizer.

Clear LogTop ?

Use this option to clear the log prior to recreating an issue when requested by the Anonymizer Support team. *You can contact the Anonymizer Support Team by selecting the (?) icon and clicking on “Email Support”.

Advanced Connection SettingsTop ? Anonymizer Universal Windows Preference Advanced Connection Settings OpenVPNTop ?

The box will be checked automatically to enable you to connect to the Anonymizer Universal OpenVPN servers.

Automatic (recommended)Top ?

This is the default setting. OpenVPN will first attempt to connect using the UDP protocol before attempting to connect using the TCP protocol.

TCPTop ?

This setting uses port 443 and TCP traffic. TCP is best for Wi-Fi Hotspots and commercial networks. This option may be slower than UDP.

UDPTop ?

This setting uses port 1194 and UDP traffic. This is best for streaming media. This option may be faster than TCP. It may be necessary to open port 1194 in your router if you have difficulty using the mode.

L2TP/IPSecTop ?

If you are unable to connect using OpenVPN you can select the L2TP/IPSec option to connect using the L2TP/IPSec protocol. It may be necessary to open ports 1701, 500, and 4500 in your Firewall and/ or router to connect using this protocol.

UpdatesTop ?

We recommend that customers check for updates automatically using the Anonymizer Universal automatic updater as security updates may be released at any time. You can click on “Check Now” at any time to check for available updates.
