Welcome to Firewall Configurations – for Windows XP and Windows Vista Users
Our firewall sections are designed to help you configure your computer settings so that they will not interfere when you are using Anonymizer® software. Please make sure that you follow the directions for the operating system that you are using. The instructions below are only for Windows XP and Windows Vista users. If you are using Zone Alarm, please follow the provided links for the correct configuration directions for that firewall.
My Windows operating system is:
Configuring Firewalls in Windows XP
Step 1
Click on the “Start” button in the lower left hand side of your computer. Choose “Control Panel” from the menu.
Step 2
Next, choose “Windows Firewall.
Step 3
Find the “Exceptions” tab and click on “Add Program.
Step 4
Choose “Anonymizer” and then “OK.
Step 5
You should now see “Anonymizer” added to the “Exceptions” tab. Now click on “Add Program.
Step 6
Click on “Browse.”
Step 7
Click on “My Computer,” then choose “Local Disk C” and then “Open.
Step 8
Next, click on “Program Files” and then “Open.
Step 9
Find the “Anonymizer” folder and click “Open.
Step 10
Choose “Anonymizer Software” and then “Open.
Step 11
Click on “Common” and then “Open.
Step 12
Choose “AnonProxy” and then “Open.
Step 13
You should now see that “AnonProxy” has been added. Click “OK.
Step 14
Make sure that “AnonProxy” and “Anonymizer” are both added to the “Exceptions” tab. When you have verified they are there, click “OK.
Configuring Firewalls in Windows Vista
Step 1
Click on the Windows icon in the lower left hand side of your computer and then choose “Control Panel” from the menu.
Step 2
On the left hand side navigation, select “Classic View” (if not already selected) and then choose “Windows Firewall.” You may have to scroll down the page to find this option.
Step 3
In “Windows Firewall,” click “Change settings.”
Step 4
This will take you to your Windows Firewall Settings. Select the “Exceptions” tab at the top and then choose “Add program” at the bottom left side.
Step 5
Select “Anonymizer” from the list and then “Browse.”
Step 6
You will be taken to a list of all of the Program Files that reside on your C: drive. Click on the “Anonymizer” folder in the list and then choose “Anonymizer Software” followed by “Common.”
Step 7
Click on “AnonProxy.”
Step 8
Select “AnonProxy” once again and then click on “OK.”
Step 9
Confirm that you have “AnonProxy” and “Anonymizer” listed and checked in the “Exceptions” tab at the top.
