Anonymous Surfing

If you are experiencing the “Invalid Certificates” error message, it means that system certificates in one or all of your browsers may be incorrect.

To correct this problem, follow all of the steps below. Windows XP and Vista users will all follow Steps 1 and 2. However, Step 3 is different for XP and Vista. Please make sure that you choose correctly.

Common Issues: A Web site told me my certificate is invalid.
Error Messages: The Certificate presented by ______.com is invalid.
Step 1

Close all programs currently running on your computer including your Anonymizer Software

  1. Right click on the Anonymizer icon in your system tray at the bottom right side of your computer screen.
  2. Choose “Exit” from the menu that appears.
  3. Click “OK” if prompted.
Step 2

Choose your browser(s) below and follow the instructions for each that pertains to your system.

Firefox:

  1. Open Firefox
  2. Click on “Tools” and then “Options” followed by “Advanced,” then “Encryption” and finally “View Certificates.”
  3. Under both the “Web sites” and “Authorities” tabs remove any entries that appear under “Anonymizer CA.”

Internet Explorer:

  1. Open Internet Explorer
  2. Click on “Tools” and then “Internet Options” followed by “Content” and then “Certificates.” Under “Anonymizer CA” remove any entries for “ALL.”
Step 3

Delete all entries within the Anonymizer SSL folder.

Follow the steps below that correspond to your Operating System.

PLEASE NOTE: These steps are different for Windows XP and Vista. Choose your operating system accordingly and follow the appropriate directions

Windows XP Users:

  1. Click on Start, and then “My Computer.” Choose “Local Disk C” and then “Documents and Settings.”
  2. At the top of the window click on “Tools” and then “Folder Options” and “View.”
  3. Under “Hidden Files and Folders” select “Show hidden files and folders” and then choose “OK.”
  4. In “Documents and Settings” open “ALL” Users.
  5. Open “Application Data” and then “Anonymizer” followed by “Anonymizer Software” “AnonProxy” and finally “SSL.”
  6. Within the SSL folder, choose “Edit” and “Select All.” (Ctrl+A)
  7. Right click the highlighted files and select “Delete” or click on “File” and select “Delete.”
  8. “Restart” your Computer.

Windows Vista Users:

  1. Click on the Windows Icon in the lower left hand side of your computer.
  2. In the “Start Search” box, located directly underneath “All Programs” enter the following:
    %ProgramData%AnonymizerAnonymizer SoftwareAnonProxySSL
  3. Within the “SSL” folder go to “Edit” and Select “All.” (Ctrl+A)
  4. Right click the highlighted files and Select “Delete” or click on “File” and select “Delete.”
  5. “Restart” your computer.
