My Anonymizer Universal Can’t Connect – Certificate Error
Error Message
- A certificate could not be found. Connections that use the L2TP protocol over IPSec require the installation of a machine certificate, also known as a computer certificate.
- The encryption attempt failed because no valid certificate was found.
Resolution
Error 768 & 781 stem from a corrupt file in the Anonymizer Universal L2TP/IPsec phonebook.
To fix this error, please follow the steps below:
Step 1
Begin by clicking “Try Again.”
Step 2
Please Note: There are different steps for Windows XP® than for Windows Vista® and Windows 7® or Windows Vista/7, 64-bit.
Window XP
- Click on “Start” and select “Run.”
- Copy and paste the following command line exactly as it appears into the “Run” box and hit “Enter.” Please Note: Be sure to include the quote marks. “C:Program FilesAnonymizerAnonymizer UniversalAnonymizer Universal.exe” /reset
- Hit “Enter.”
Window Vista & 7
- Begin by copying the command line below. IMPORTANT: Be sure to include the quote marks: “C:Program FilesAnonymizerAnonymizer UniversalAnonymizer Universal.exe” /reset
- Click on “Start,” and then right click inside the “Start Search” box. Select “Paste.”
- Hit “Enter.”
Window Vista & 7 – 64bit
- Begin by copying the command line below. IMPORTANT: Be sure to include the quote marks: “C:Program Files (x86)AnonymizerAnonymizer UniversalAnonymizer Universal.exe” /reset
- Click on “Start,” and then right click inside the “Start Search” box. Select “Paste.”
- Hit “Enter.”
Step 3
Within a few moments, the software should launch and connect.
