Resolution(s): Error 766 & 781 stem from a corrupt file in the Anonymizer Universal Phonebook. To fix this error, please follow the steps below.

  • Begin by clicking “Try Again.”

Please Note: There are different steps for Windows XP® than for Windows Vista® and Windows 7® or Windows Vista/7, 64-bit.

Window XP

  1. Click on “Start” and select “Run.”
  2. Copy and paste the following command line exactly as it appears into the “Run” box and hit “Enter.” Please Note: Be sure to include the quote marks. “C:Program FilesAnonymizerAnonymizer UniversalAnonymizer Universal.exe” /reset
  3. Hit “Enter.”

Window Vista & 7

  1. Begin by copying the command line below. IMPORTANT: Be sure to include the quote marks: “C:Program FilesAnonymizerAnonymizer UniversalAnonymizer Universal.exe” /reset
  2. Click on “Start,” and then right click inside the “Start Search” box. Select “Paste.”
  3. Hit “Enter.”

  1. Begin by copying the command line below. IMPORTANT: Be sure to include the quote marks: “C:Program Files (x86)AnonymizerAnonymizer UniversalAnonymizer Universal.exe” /reset
  2. Click on “Start,” and then right click inside the “Start Search” box. Select “Paste.”
  3. Hit “Enter.”

Within a few moments, the software should launch and connect.
